Elizabeth Preston Eureka! Scholarship

The Elizabeth Preston Eureka! scholarship was created to honor the contributions of Dr. Elizabeth “Liz” Preston to the Westfield State University community. In keeping with Dr. Preston’s commitment to assuring access and affordability in public higher education and her belief in the far-reaching benefits of educating and empowering girls and women, the scholarship will be awarded to students who choose to attend Westfield State after participating in the Girls Inc. of the Valley _Eureka! _program.

• Recipients must be enrolled at Westfield State University.
• Recipients may be full-time or part-time undergraduate students; they must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree.
• Recipients must be a current or former member of Girls Inc. of the Valley and have participated in the _Eureka! _program for a minimum of 3 years.
• Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.
• Applicants must qualify for financial assistance.
• Applicants must submit two scholarship recommendation forms, one of which must be completed by a member of the staff of Girls Inc. of the Valley.
• Applicants must submit a short essay: Girls Inc. stresses that “When girls are given the tools and opportunities to succeed, not only do they change their own circumstances, they also change the circumstances of others around them.”

  2. Reference Request: Applicants are required to provide two letters of recommendation of which ONE (1) from a staff member of Girls Inc of the Valley and the other by someone who is not related to you and has known you for at least 2 years.
