Frederick S. "Joe" Kareta Scholarship
Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA and demonstrate volunteerism in their community, as well as financial need. Preferably, the award will be given to an incoming freshman planning to study in the criminal justice program at Westfield State University who is presently a Senior attending South Hadley or Holyoke Public Schools. Awards will be given, first, to high school seniors declaring criminal justice as their major, and second, in the following order to freshman, sophomores, juniors, and finally seniors presently attending Westfield State University. Applicants must be a resident of Hampden or Hampshire County, with preference to students from South Hadley or Holyoke. In 250 words applicants are asked to describe their community volunteer work, and how receiving this scholarship will affect their future educational goals.
