Thomas H. Convery '78 Scholarship for History and Education

This scholarship is for a student entering in their Junior or Senior year at Westfield State, that plans on teaching History.

  • Applicants must be enrolled full-time as a History major planning on becoming a History teacher.
  • Applicants will be asked to write a 300 word essay demonstrating a strong commitment to teaching History, particularly from a multicultural perspective that highlights the experiences of minority and oppressed groups.
  • The recipient must have at least a 2.8 GPA.
  • Thomas would HOPE (if possible) that this recipient will teach about the forgotten plight of the American Indians, the Greenwood Massacre, The Holocaust, The Internment of Japanese Americans and the Civil Rights movement, among many other important times in History.
  • The recipient may only receive this scholarship once.
