The Veta Daley Scholarship Fund: Reach to Teach Partnership
The Veta Daley Scholarship Fund: Reach to Teach Partnership was established by Veta Daley to assist students who have graduated from Springfield Public Schools with the dream of becoming educators.
Veta Daley is a long time educational leader in the Springfield Public School system. Veta received her bachelor’s in 1987 and master’s in 1991 and went on to a thirty-two year career in education in the Springfield Public Schools, where she served as a teacher, principal and chief school officer. After her retirement, Veta wanted to continue having a positive influence on students that she cared so deeply for. After putting a lot of thought into her decision, she decided to establish the Veta Daley Scholarship Fund: Reach to Teach Partnership to help support the next generation of educators in Springfield.
The Reach to Teach program at Westfield State University supports students from the Springfield Public Schools who aim to become teachers. By participating in the Reach to Teach program students are automatically admitted to Westfield State University if eligible, receive support during the application process, and have scholarships available to them during their junior and senior years and are guaranteed a job after graduation in the Springfield Public Schools.
