The John N. Sarno Memorial Scholarship

John N. Sarno graduated from Westfield State University earning a bachelor’s degree in computer science in 1994. After graduating, John served on the Westfield State University Alumni and Information Technology Committee.

John worked his entire professional career at Big Y Foods, Inc. headquarters in Springfield, MA. A career that spanned four decades. Through hard work and perseverance, John worked his way up from entry level positions to the executive position of Vice President of Information Technology. In 2007, John was recognized by Retail Technology Magazine as one of the 25 most influential innovators in the United States. Upon retirement, Big Y awarded John the first ever “Lifetime Achievement” award.

This scholarship has been established to honor the life and legacy of John N. Sarno by his good friends: Jeffrey and Lisa Knight.
