The First Year Learning Disabilities Program Scholarship at Banacos Center
Founded in 1979, the Learning Disabilities Program at Westfield State University offers a supportive academic setting where incoming first-time, first-year students with learning differences, that are learning disorder or ADHD based, can flourish. Each student in the Learning Disabilities Program is assigned to a professional Program Advisor. This advisor works with the same students throughout their entire undergraduate careers, teaching them to master their individual learning strengths and to become fully independent learners.
The Learning Disabilities Program First Year Scholarship is given to first-year students who distinguish themselves during the interview process either by strength of academic record, interpersonal skills, or demonstrated interest in Westfield State.
The staff of the Learning Disabilities Program established the LDP First Year Scholarship to provide financial assistance to an incoming first year LDP student who has completed the application process and received his/her acceptance letter. The student selected for this scholarship will meet the following conditions:
• Applicant must be prospective first-year student who has been accepted into the Learning Disabilities Program.
• Demonstrated financial need as confirmed with the Financial Aid Office.
• Committed to attend Westfield State University through paid deposit.
• Applicants that meet these requirements are encouraged to apply by contacting the LDP department at ldp@westfield.ma.edu.
• Submit a 500-word essay.
