The Davis Family Scholarship
The Davis Family Scholarship was established in 2017 by Dr. Perry Davis ’71 and his wife, Paula Davis ’73, in honor of their family’s legacy at Westfield State University, as their daughter, Maribeth Davis Haynes ’99 is also an alumnus. This scholarship will be awarded for the first time to a student in the fall of 2019 with the goal of supporting a Westfield State student in their Junior or Senior year studying early childhood education, history, or art and who have the intention to become a classroom teacher.
Impact
“This will be an exciting year for me and my family and I am looking forward to a career in Early Childhood Education at the public schools. This is something that I have wanted to do for a long time. It feels good to be a step closer.”
- Melissa Gauger ’20, Early Childhood Education & Liberal Studies
“Thank you so much for awarding me this scholarship! It means so much to me. I plan on pursuing my master’s in Elementary Education after I get my bachelor’s degree, and this scholarship will help me tremendously to do that. My goal is to become a third-grade teacher.”
-Laurel Weissman ’22, Elementary Education & Liberal Studies
“A great thank you to the Davis Family. I am so grateful for this scholarship. Paying for my studies is difficult and the last thing I want to be is a financial burden for my family. You have definitely lessened the financial weight on my shoulders.”
